so true. we need to learn to lay down our judgement and offenses and truly learn to pay attention to the father heart of God - His heart loves ALL people, regardless of whether or not they are "performing" to optimum potential. God isn't after our performance - He wants an intimate relationship with each of His kids. it's like that Audio Adrenaline song that i love - God's heart as our loving father and shepherd is one that would leave 99 sheep for the sake of the 1 that has gone astray. that one sheep isn't even doing anything for God, but that's how amazing His love is!!! He loves us even when we're lost and broken and failing..

Thanks for putting your thoughts out here Dan. I love to read what you write! I want to answer one of the questions you posed.
Do I believe God is good? I believe he is and that our definition of what good is, could definitely be expanded upon. We have a very limited view of Gods goodness, we don't see the whole picture. Him being good isn't dependent on our circumstances being the way we want them to be. I often think that this world sucks and deals crap hands to us. That's not Gods fault though, we were born into sin, and essentially, things get so crappy in life as a result of that sin. God was good before we messed up in the garden, and He remained good after. Do I still have days where I seriously question the goodness of God? Yes, I do. Presently, I am challenging myself to think outside the box of a+b=c. I want to intimately know His heart for me each day (how do you know for sure what someone thinks about things/you? You ask them). If I just went by my circumstances alone, I would probably think that God sucks. However, I have found that when I take the time to ask Him what His heart and plans are for me, I am always amazed by His love, forgiveness and goodness. The question might not be, is God good? It might be, what do you believe about God and how does that form your opinion of Him? Beliefs form opinions which form behaviors. Are you going to God to ask Him about your life and letting Him love on you or are you keeping Him out? Do you believe that you will get loved on when you go to Him or that you will get criticised by Him? How do you think He sees you? These are just a couple questions I have had to address in my own life that have helped me explore my beliefs about God.

Dan,

Totally agree with your thoughts, but the article you linked for the retraction statement is satire (google the author Andy Borowitz - quite a clever and funny guy). If we're going to stand up for the truth we have to make sure we have our own facts straight. Here's a link to an actual statement - not by Robertson but posted on his website by someone in his entourage on Robertson's behalf after his comments. It's a pretty lame semidenial - he didn't actuall say ... - maybe he didn't use those words but it's pretty clear from what he said that that's what he meant.

The reason for the tittle? That's a good question. My wife and I were sitting around brian storming ideas for the face lift I gave the site, we thought a new name was in order and I guess I make my wife think of fried chicken. It's crunchy on the out side and in it's apearance but it's all goodness. I come off sometimes as taking a jab at the world but if you can get through that I believe there is some good stuff here. It's not really as in depth or meaningfull as one might think. In the end It really comes down to the funny fact that I make my wife think about fried chicken when she looks at me.

Thanks for reading.

If you have any brilliant reasons for the name let me know

Hey! I came across your blog a few days ago through Stuff Christians Like. And then I got hooked. And then I started to wonder where you got the "Fried Chicken" title from (or rather, what it meant). If I'm asking this because I haven't yet snooped through your tabs, please forgive. But you have me wondering! =)
